A concern for student development has existed in some form since the establishment of APC. APC is devoted to high standards of academic excellence. As student needs have evolved, developmental strategies similarly are adapted to meet those needs. We here at APC, instil in student the spirit to battle against odds and to take risks by finding their own pathways howsoever the road THROUGH MENTORING. We seek to develop in each member of the APC community the ability to work passionately, creatively, effectively and tirelessly for the betterment of our country and of the humankind at large.
Students need mentors, in the words of Carl Rogers, authentic professional human beings who are worthy of emulation. They need models who exhibit professional behaviour, a sense of commitment and purposefulness, and a sense of autonomy and integrity. Faculty members are assigned a fixed number of students right at the time of their joining the programme and mentoring is scheduled twice a month and also students are given the liberty to assess any faculty at any time. During mentoring students are oriented about the existing culture of the campus, academic mentoring is stressed where students are exposed to learning and teaching strategies, the possible way to improve results and also they are mentored psychologically empowering them to traverse through learning, achieving success and going beyond their prospect to become life-long learners such that privations get transformed into opportunities for excellence.
Also, mentoring session are directed towards unveiling every facet of the current employment status and pre-requisite necessity of the century, making them mentally robust and moulding their attitude such that their every step taken receipts them closer to the finest opportunity ever possible. Also in the first year, student mapping is practised where an overview of student’s communication skill, mental strength, emotional stability and personality is evaluated, and the short comings observed are stressed by a mentor and steps are directed to improve it and in doing so, the Mentoring at APC aims to equip students with the tools and knowledge to make effective, appropriate decisions in their lives during graduation, post-graduation and beyond.
Peer to Peer Interaction
Committee of peer to peer interaction was establish to assist the students learn from their most eligible seniors who went through a rigorous screening process to be in the committee of student counsellor and to imbibe the characteristics like leadership in mentors as well. The student committee was set for the mentoring to guide the students in right path and to help them in academics and other extra and co- curricular activities as well. Committee of student mentor was set as they are closer to students and as it is rightly said that “Leaders must be close enough to relate to other, but far ahead to motivate them.” Peer to Peer Interaction meeting is held twice a month.
The students will imbibe the characteristics of the peer and he/she will be an inspiration to the students.
To let the students be honest about the difficulties which they are facing currently.
To guide the students in right direction and to provide them a friend who can look after.
The students will be guided in the right direction by their seniors.
The students will be motivated to outshine in academics as well as extra and co- curricular activities.
To Lead them and help them to overcome the shortcomings.
