A concern for student development has existed in some form since the establishment of APC. APC is devoted to high standards of academic excellence. As student needs have evolved, developmental strategies similarly are adapted to meet those needs. We here at APC, instil in student the spirit to battle against odds and to take risks by finding their own pathways howsoever the road THROUGH MENTORING. We seek to develop in each member of the APC community the ability to work passionately, creatively, effectively and tirelessly for the betterment of our country and of the humankind at large.
Students need mentors, in the words of Carl Rogers, authentic professional human beings who are worthy of emulation. They need models who exhibit professional behaviour, a sense of commitment and purposefulness, and a sense of autonomy and integrity. Faculty members are assigned a fixed number of students right at the time of their joining the programme and mentoring is scheduled twice a month and also students are given the liberty to assess any faculty at any time. During mentoring students are oriented about the existing culture of the campus, academic mentoring is stressed where students are exposed to learning and teaching strategies, the possible way to improve results and also they are mentored psychologically empowering them to traverse through learning, achieving success and going beyond their prospect to become life-long learners such that privations get transformed into opportunities for excellence.
Also, mentoring session are directed towards unveiling every facet of the current employment status and pre-requisite necessity of the century, making them mentally robust and moulding their attitude such that their every step taken receipts them closer to the finest opportunity ever possible. Also in the first year, student mapping is practised where an overview of student’s communication skill, mental strength, emotional stability and personality is evaluated, and the short comings observed are stressed by a mentor and steps are directed to improve it and in doing so, the Mentoring at APC aims to equip students with the tools and knowledge to make effective, appropriate decisions in their lives during graduation, post-graduation and beyond.
