Pharmaceutical Packaging Lifecycle: From Design to Market Sustainability
Anand Pharmacy College successfully organized a Certificate Course on
Pharmaceutical Packaging Lifecycle on 2nd May 2026 at UG5 Classroom.
The program aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of packaging design,
testing, regulatory compliance, and quality systems aligned with global
pharmaceutical standards.
Session Overview
Session I: Packaging Material Quality Control
Speaker: Mr. Umesh Jivani
The session focused on scientific evaluation and testing of packaging materials as per
international standards. Key areas included:
USP and European guideline-based testing
Grammage and material characterization
Identification using IR, UV, and TOC techniques
Barrier property evaluation: MVTR/WVTR and OTR
Session II: Regulatory Requirements & Packaging
Speaker: Mr. Chintan Shah
This session provided a global regulatory perspective covering:
Requirements for dosage forms, biologics, and medical devices
Regulatory authorities: USFDA, EMA, CDSCO
CTD Module 1 & 3 requirements for packaging
Labelling, container closure systems, and sterile barriers
Key guidelines: ICH, USFDA 21 CFR, EU Annex 1 & 13
Application of GMP and GDP in packaging systems
Session III: Quality Assurance, Testing & Risk Management
Speaker: Dr. Ashish Swami
The final session emphasized quality systems and risk-based approaches, including:
Packaging QA frameworks and compliance
In-process controls and specification testing

Shelf-life studies as per pharmacopoeial standards
Risk management strategies in packaging
SOPs and documentation practices for all dosage forms
